PATHÉ PALACE
On October 12, 2017, Pathé acquired the property adjacent to the cinema at 3 and 3bis rue de la Chaussée d’Antin, including a 2 screens theatre, 1 retail outlet and 5 floors of office space, i.e. almost 2,500 m2. This acquisition gave rise to the ambitious Pathé Palace project, an upscale, atypical, lively, open-plan design space entirely dedicated to the cinema, with 7 screens, a bar, reception areas and Pathé offices.

THE ARCHITECTURAL PROJECT
The Pathé Palace is located in one of the blocks built at the end of the 19th century around the Palais Garnier. Restored in accordance with rules of the art, the project blends respectfully and contemporarily into this urban ensemble. The entrance via the rotunda, kept in the collective memory of Parisians, has been preserved and enhanced by careful restoration and subtle illumination.
The new façade creates a visual permeability that opens up the building to the city, inviting visitors to enter its large glass hall to discover “La Piazza”, an interior square, a space for walking and meeting, at the heart of the project. “La Piazza” consists of a glass atrium with a footprint of around 300 m², and contains a garden planted with birch trees, bringing light to the lobby, the theatre’s main circulation areas, the BtoB spaces and the offices.
Bouygues Bâtiment Île-de-France – Rénovation Privée was selected to restructure this 9,500 m² complex.
Many people around the world have buried the cinema and think that television has eliminated it once and for all; in fact, they’re just repeating a thought that the Lumière brothers already had.
Le Palace is a reasonable folly, a showcase for all the dreamers of this world, all those who believe that imagination and emotion prevail over reason. Audiences will come here to see a film, but also to visit a place like no other, a place in the center of Paris, next to the opera house, designed by a genius architect and built by enthusiasts who strive for quality and excellence at all times.
